Dr. Carson Charles is a former Minister of Works and Transport. He first entered Parliament in 1986 as the Member of Parliament for St. Joseph and Minister in the Ministry of Works, Infrastructure and Decentralization in the 3rd. Republican Parliament (1987-1991). He was subsequently appointed Minister of Works, Infrastructure and Decentralization and served until the end of his term in 1991. In 2007, Dr. Charles was appointed a Senator in the 9th Republican Parliament as a Member of the United National Congress Alliance. He is an Engineer by profession and holds a B.Sc in Civil Engineering and a Ph.D in Engineering with a focus on Transportation Planning. He is currently the Political Leader of the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR). In July 2010, Dr. Charles was appointed President of the National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO).
